Aussie-born, Liverpool-based poet, singer-songwriter, actress and creator of audio fiction, Flloyd Kennedy moved to the UK in the 1960s, raised two sons with her Scots husband. Flloyd draws upon her experience of life, not as memoir, but as a means of making some sort of sense of life in general.
"Flloyd Kennedy's collection is the real deal: honest, unsparing, hilarious and heartfelt. Her wryly observed stories, told in poetry and song, will stay with you long after you've finished reading, and re-reading, again and again." Lauren Grodstein, author of "Our Short History", "A Friend of the Family" and "A Dog in Georgia".
"This book is a delight. Make yourself a cup of tea, turn your phone off, sit in the comfy chair and allow yourself to drift gently with the tides for an hour or so. Don't rush, don't look for meaning, just go slowly. Thank you Flloyd." Ted Gray
Poems fierce and gentle, from somewhere over the hill.
Flloyd Kennedy - actress, director, singer songwriter, creator of the audio comedy podcasts "Am I Old Yet?" and "Baked Off! live, laugh, loaves". She was born and raised in Australia and moved to the UK in the late 1960s. In this, her second collection of songs, poems and essays, she draws upon an avalanche of memories from a life uproarioursly lived and wryly observed, taking philosophical potshots at the world around, which seems to her to have lost the plot.
"something to cuddle up with these dark winter months" Th'Owd Chap.
"The colour in these words is the real gift. Thanks to @flloydkennedy wordsmith, fierce and gentle. “Home is where I hang my Pot” and “Sunsets & Kites” read like old friends, with something new to say." Lu Cyrcus
"I love Flloyd’s poetry and I love to hear her read it. She is warm and genuine and very insightful in her observations on life and humanity. 🙂👍". Sarah Macdonald
... even though time, as such, does not exist.
Flloyd Kennedy - actress, director, singer songwriter, creator of the audio comedy podcasts "Am I Old Yet?" and "Baked Off! live, laugh, loaves". She was born and raised in Australia and moved to the UK in the late 1960s, where she married and raised two sons in Scotland. In this, her third collection of poetry, she writes about anything and everything, from whales in space to screensavers and face masks, with a light touch profoundly felt. Flloyd presently lives in Liverpool, UK, and regularly performs with the local poetry groups as well as making brief appearances in the odd TV commercial or local indie and student films.
"Flloyd Kennedy manages to be both accessible and sneakily subtle - a combination that never fails to have me hanging on to every word. This is whether in her podcasts which are deceptively domestic or her prolific poems or captivating and gently savage songs. They are all worth exploring." Frankie Armstrong.
